Four of the windows along Hicks Street were damaged in a storm last year. The storm compromised the 71 year old protective glass which seals the stained glass causing water to pour into the church. Thankfully, insurance is covering most, but not all, of the expenses to replace all of the protective glass, seal the windows, repair and paint the wooden frames. This will make 5 out of 9 windows renovated along Hicks Street. 7 of the 9 windows on the parking lot side were renovated a few years ago.

A Young Girl Named Aram and Your
Christmas Gifts to Children in Ghana

Fr. Cletus would like you to meet young Aram, a resident of the Good Samaritan Home for mentally and physically challenged children in Ghana. The children there are some of the recipients of your Christmas gift generosity.Aram, whose name means ‘quite one,’ was abandoned and left on the streets because of her disability. She was saved and welcomed at Good Samaritan Home where she receives the care, support, and love she needs and deserves.

Stephen has been her caregiver at the home run by the Congregation of the Servants of Charity — whose members are priests and brothers.

Stephen takes Aram to speech and language rehabilitation at the hospital, where she is now able to understand conversations. Her speech ability is limited.

Madam Julianna, the campus chef, has taken Aram into her home while the non-resident children are away with their families on Christmas vacation.

Fr. Gilbert, seen on his bicycle, is a priest who also cares for the children.

Our contributions helped in donating an ambulance to a Church in Accra.

In case you missed it, “Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio unveiled and blessed the statue and shrine of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini — also known as Mother Cabrini — outside her Brooklyn parish, Sacred Hearts & St. Stephen Church on June 11.” 🙏
As Bishop DiMarzio said, “Mother Cabrini’s spirituality of the Sacred Heart was more than a devotion. She lived the devotion to the Sacred Heart. She had that courage to do, basically, miraculous things,” he continued, “way out of the way for a woman in her day to accomplish.”

I am the Church, You are the Church, We are the Church, Together!  – Where are you in your faith journey?

Evangelization – the essential mission of the Church. As Jesus said at the end of the Gospel of Matthew: “Go and make disciples of all nations.” To evangelize means to bring the good news of the Gospel to all we encounter by teaching, being channels of the gift of grace, reconciling sinners with God, and perpetuating Christ’s sacrifice in the Mass. The fruit of evangelization is new disciples of Jesus.

Disciple – a person who accepts and assists in the spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ. Christian discipleship is the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts, to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christlike. This process requires believers to respond to the Holy Spirit’s prompting to examine their thoughts, words and actions and compare them with the Word of God and the Tradition of the Church as good stewards.

Steward – a person who accepts the responsibility that Christians have in maintaining and using wisely the gifts that God has bestowed. God wishes us to be his collaborators in the work of creation, redemption and sanctification. A good steward gives of their time, talent and treasure in order to be an collaborator in the work of evangelization.
